TVC Technology Strikes the Perfect AV Balance at Hollywood Bowl Reading

Combining cutting-edge visuals and immersive audio, TVC Technology delivers a seamless, high-impact AV experience for the UK’s leading bowling brand

Hollywood Bowl, a brand within the Original Bowling Company, stands as the UK’s largest ten-pin bowling operator with more than 60 venues nationwide. The new Reading venue, which opened its doors recently following a £4.5 million investment, represents the latest milestone in Hollywood Bowl’s partnership with TVC Technology Solutions. Building on successful collaborations at Bolton, Merry Hill, and Speke, TVC was once again selected to deliver a complete audio-visual fit-out for this purpose-built site at The Oracle.

The brief was to create a modern, engaging leisure destination with high-quality visuals across the bowling lanes, bar, and reception areas, supported by flexible digital signage capable of displaying live sports, promotional content, and interactive media. Just as crucial was a robust, zoned audio system that could adapt to the different atmospheres throughout the venue, powerful and energetic in the lanes, yet relaxed and social in the bar. Hollywood Bowl Reading required a solution that enhanced the guest experience while giving employees intuitive, reliable control over all AV systems on site.

“Hollywood Bowl venues are all about creating energy and atmosphere, and technology plays a huge role in that,” says Andy Greaves, Sales Director at TVC Technology Solutions. “Our goal was to provide a solution that feels immersive and modern for guests, while being simple and flexible for staff to operate day-to-day.”

To achieve this, TVC Technology installed a suite of Philips video wall solutions across key areas of the venue, including the bar, reception, and pool spaces. The bar features three impressive 98-inch video walls that bring live sport vividly to life, while reception displays create a premium first impression as visitors step inside. LG 43-inch commercial displays along the lanes deliver crystal-clear visuals of scores and player highlights, adding a dynamic and interactive edge to the game. Two freestanding digital posters showcase daily leaderboards, providing instant updates and encouraging friendly competition.

A Wyrestorm Network HD distribution platform manages content across the venue, enabling staff to control all displays through a centralised iPad interface. This system allows multiple feeds, from Sky Sports to digital signage, to be routed to any screen at any time, ensuring the right content reaches the right audience with minimal effort.

Sound quality was equally important to the project’s success. Over 40 Audac loudspeakers were installed throughout the venue, with each model selected to suit its specific acoustic environment. From high-impact Vexo speakers in the lanes to pendant Alti units in the bar and open areas, the result is clear, powerful, and evenly balanced sound. The outdoor terrace features weather-resistant Alti6 speakers, maintaining quality and reliability in all conditions.

The entire audio system is managed through an Optimal Audio Zone8 controller, with ZonePad wall controls and iPad integration providing intuitive operation. This setup allows staff to adjust volume levels and audio sources across multiple zones, easily tailoring the atmosphere to different times of day or events.

The finished installation has transformed the venue into a contemporary entertainment destination that combines visual impact with seamless control and exceptional reliability. Guests enjoy an immersive experience, while employees benefit from a streamlined, user-friendly system that simplifies daily operations.

Hollywood Bowl Reading stands as a showcase of how technology, design, and atmosphere can come together to elevate the leisure experience, another successful collaboration between Hollywood Bowl and TVC Technology Solutions.
